Cat's Colors

I have finally finished the communication boards for the last book in my pet unit.  This one was so fun to do because it was all about colours.  The other week I posted some questions about teaching children with little or no verbal skills how to read.  One of the things I'm concentrating on this year is comprehension.  Children with little or no verbal skills often don't have the same opportunities to participate in shared reading experiences at a young age because they don't have the vocabulary available to them.  This unit concentrates on comprehension, answering questions and making simple sentences.

I've posted the units about "What Pet to Get?" and "One More Pet". You can find the posts by clicking on their book covers.

The last book I've done activities for is "Cat's Colors" by Jane Cabrera.

I have once again made communication boards for the activities.  At the beginning of the year most of my children don't have their own communication systems in place.  If they do, they are very basic.  When we start talking about different books, they often don't have the pictures they need to answer my questions.

Here is what I have for this book.

To celebrate the fact that I've finally finished up these three units, they will all be on sale for 1/2 price until the end of the month. Click on the pictures below to head to your favourite store.

Apple Color Sorting

At the end of this week, I only have one week to go before heading back to school.  I have been able to upload so many new products over the summer.  I've been so grateful for the time to work on things.  There is one more unit I want to finish up over the weekend and then hopefully I will be ready for the kids.

This is what I've been working on the last couple of days.  My apple color sort activity.  I know we will need lots of practice doing this in September.  This is very similar to my firefly color sort  activity that I posted in the summer.

Back to School is No Joking Matter! {Blog Hop}

I'm so excited to be linking up with Freebielicious for a back to school blog hop.  Everyone needs a smile at this stressful time of year.  I'm not back at school yet but the back to school shopping is in full swing.  When I saw this cute cartoon I thought it was funny. They really should have these side by side in Walmart.

Don't forget while you are shopping, that the Back to School sale at TpT is starting.  I will be putting my whole store on sale for 20% and by using the Promo code BTS13 you can get another 10% off.
Click on the picture below to head on over to my store.

For the next stop on the hop, head on over to Simply Kinder for more laughs.

Teachers on Pinterest

Do you love Pinterest as much as I do?  It's such a great way to get new ideas and remember the ones you find.

Today Pinterest launched Teachers on Pinterest.  There are boards from preschool to grade 6 and boards for such things as art, science and literacy.

While they don't have one for special education, they do have a board for kindergarten.   Head on over to check it out by clicking on the picture below.

One More Pet Activities and Freebie

Last week I posted some questions about teaching children with little or no verbal skills how to read.  One of the things I thought I would concentrate on this year is comprehension.  Children with little or no verbal skills often don't have the same opportunities to participate in shared reading experiences at a young age because they don't have the vocabulary available to them.

For my first unit of the year, I will be doing pets. Last week I posted about "What Pet to Get?".  You can find the post by clicking on the book cover.

The second book I've done activities for is "One More Pet" by Eugenie Fernandes.

Again, I wanted to make my own communication boards for the activities.  At the beginning of the year most of my children don't have their own communication systems in place.  If they do, they are very basic.  When we start talking about different books, they often don't have the pictures they need to answer my questions.

Here are the activities I've created for "One More Pet" by Eugenie Fernandes.

You can find the freebie by clicking on the pictures below.
